Health & Safety
Centro MundoLengua considers the health and safety of students while studying abroad priority number one.
For peace of mind, in most cases students have full health insurance included with one of Spain’s most reputable providers, Mapfre Insurance. This covers all medical emergencies.
Supervision and 24-hour support are provided for students on-site by our multi-lingual staff. Centro MundoLengua provides a level of personalized attention for each student unseen in other programs, with the end goal that students adapt to their new environment and feel “at home” in Spain. At the start of every trip, students and host families are given the contact numbers of the coordinators who are available 24 hours a day.
Students accepted in our program must sign an agreement not to purchase, possess, or consume alcohol or drugs, or associate with any student who does. Any student found in violation of this policy will be immediately expelled and sent home at the family’s expense.
Students are expected to abide by the curfew set by Centro MundoLengua (independent of what each individual host family might decide). Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of free time at night, and possible expulsion from the program.
By studying abroad, your child will:
Improve his/her Spanish language skills. Your child will be immersed in a total Spanish language environment, 24 hours a day. At school, with his/her family, and with his/her new friends, he/she will be familiarized with the Spanish language and dramatically improve his/her writing and oral skills.
Learn about a new culture and see the world from a new perspective. Your child will discover a new country with a new culture. He/she will have to adapt to new ideas, ways of life, traditions, as well as a new school system. He/she will become a global citizen, better prepared and open-minded to interact with other people from other cultures in his/her everyday life!
Your child will learn to get along on his/her own. Perhaps for the first time in his/her life, your child will get away from his/her accustomed environment. He/she will have to learn to face life’s little problems without the direct help of his/her parents. He/She will have to fit in to his/her new family and school, and make new friends. He/she will affirm his/her personality and – if this is the case – become less shy. All of this will take place in a carefully structured and encouraging environment, under the supervision and with the help of Centro MundoLengua.
With this experience, your child will expand his/her horizon and blossom thanks to new-found interests and passions (sports, language exchange, cultural visits, etc..). By allowing him/her to explore new interests, your child will have a better sense of what he/she wants to study at the university and do in the future. He/She will grow academically and personally. What is more, he/she will become more marketable to colleges, as a study abroad experience with homestay (not simply a tour) is always a big criterion taken into account by admissions officers.
Parent and Teacher Testimonials
“Hi David - I just wanted to send a quick e-mail and let you know how much Madeleine LOVED the entire Centro MundoLengua experience! She loved every minute of it and even during the rocky times (long solo plane rides, hives, a bit of being homesick) just cherished the entire experience. We think that not only did her Spanish improve but just her overall outlook on what she can accomplish did too. It was by all accounts a wonderful time. Thanks for being so caring and going with her to the doctors office. Thanks SO much for a wonderful program and the entire experience!” Julie W., Parent.
“Joseph and his friend, Thomas, had a fabulous time with your program and I recommend it to other parents all the time. It is unusual to have such an organized wonderful program where the kids are in a home yet have vibrant and fun activities. Yours is special for sure. “ Sarah T., Parent.
I would like to thank you for making this trip both enjoyable and rewarding. Our students left Cadiz with a better understanding of Spanish culture and a higher level of comprehension of the language. We appreciate your attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to work with us regarding any issue that arose.” Alma C., The Windward School.
